Introduction

I am an MSTP student in the 7th year of training at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, of New York University, NY.  I received Ph.D. in Biomathematical Sciences in 2004 under the guidance of Dr. Lawrence Sirovich, director of the Laboratory  for Applied Mathematics , Dept. of Biomathematical Sciences.  My primary research interest is mathematical / statistical image analysis, with emphasis in IOS (Intrinsic Optical Signal) imaging of the mammalian Central Nervous System. Major areas of application include mapping of the functional organization in V1 and V2 (primary and secondary visual cortices) for various types of visual information (stimulus orientation, direction of motion, spatial/temporal frequency, color and luminance contrast). I am also interested in problems of pattern-recognition, signal processing, multivariate statistics, and their applications in medical physiology, psychophysics, and biological data analysis.
